Community Transformation

How we transform

Under this program, we initiate household improvement projects, mainly coffee. This crop being one of the leading cash crops in the country is grown by most people therefore, we think it’s a very good channel through which people’s livelihoods can be boosted. We are working with 2,003 families under the coffee program, organized under 46 farmer groups and the mature entrants’ program.

Other interventions include bee programs and apiaries have been established already for honey production.

We also developed a technology for mitigating drought that has constantly been a challenge to coffee growing in this area. We have named it the “Butterfly Drought Management System” which collects up to 35,000 liters of water and can irrigate an acre of coffee for up to 3 months of no rain.
